Carrasquilla was founded as a homage to Colombian culture.
Inspired by traditional leather craft, the brand reimagines heritage through contemporary design and Italian craftsmanship.
Founded by German-Colombian fashion designer Chiara Mia Carrasquilla, Carrasquilla reflects a personal journey between cultures.
Origin
Leather craft has a long history in the mountains of Antioquia in Colombia.
For generations, muleteers traveled through the Andes carrying a distinctive leather bag known as the Carriel. More than a practical object, it became a personal companion on the road, carrying love letters, travel documents and the small secrets of life on the road.
Over time, the Carriel became a cultural symbol of the region, representing independence, resilience and identity.
Inspiration
The sculptural silhouette of Carrasquilla is inspired by this iconic bag.
Traditionally designed with multiple hidden compartments, it carried the small essentials of life, each pocket holding its own story.
Rather than reproducing tradition, Carrasquilla reinterprets this heritage through contemporary design, refining proportions, materials and construction to create a modern object of luxury.
Crafted in Italy
Each Carrasquilla piece is handcrafted in Italy by skilled leather artisans.
Produced in a renowned Italian leather atelier, the bags combine traditional craftsmanship with modern precision.
Certified fine calfskins and locally sourced materials are carefully selected, while certain leathers are hand-painted in Italy.
Custom hardware is finished in 24k gold plating, and every detail is designed with longevity in mind.
